Coming to the end of Winter : Essential Oils to help the transition into Spring
Share
I know some people really struggle with the darkness and I am lucky that I do not. Perhaps it is because I don’t try to fight it, I savour the slowness of the winter months, the slower pace of life, the opportunity to rest up and restore. I still try to get outdoors every day regardless of the weather, having a dog helps with that on particularly bleak weather days!
As always I have essential oils on hand; burners or candles scenting the air. Inhalers in my pocket ready to sniff or a few dabs of some oil or another on my clothes - essential oils are always subtly there to help with the winter hibernation, to provide some restorative support. Rich spicy, earthy comforting oils like Cardamom, Cinnamon, Patchouli and Black Pepper are included in many of my blends for the home in the darkest days of winter.
Now in February I am starting to look towards woody and floral oils to help with the transition towards Spring. Whether you enjoy the slow cosy pace of a winter full of hobbies or are itching for the return of the light and the longer days here are a few essential oils to help your transition towards Spring:
-
Rosemary - A reviving oil which helps reduce feelings of lethargy and tiredness often experienced during the long months of winter
-
Bay Laurel - Often thought about for cooking, the essential oil can lift the spirits and relax the mind. It also has great antiseptic qualities - especially useful in cold and flu season!
-
Cypress - A fresh woody aroma that helps create a feeling of positivity
-
Juniper - A crisp smelling oil that bolsters the spirits and dispels negative emotions. Used in a diffuser or a room spray it freshens the space and clears stale air.
-
Bergamot - Helps to lift a low mood and ease anxiety. One of my ‘ go to’ oils all year round soothing both physically and mentally.
I’d recommend this uplifting and mood boosting blend for your diffuser or oil burner: 4 drops Cypress, 3 drops Juniper & 5 drops Bergamot*
*You can double the quantities if using in a larger room
